The Proposal
We had always admired the Poisin Glen (the old church) and had spoken about getting married there. On just an ordinary trip to Ireland Ross was keen to visit the Poisin Glen. Me being me I thought we were going to sus it out so Ross would know if he would propose there the next time we were over.
I was heavily pregnant and he had been well warned not to propose when I was pregnant. But there we were standing admiring the old church when Ross pulled out a box and asked me to marry him. I cried and repeatedly said no, highlighted to him the fact I was pregnant, to which he replied will you just put the ring on.
A lovely pregnancy nose bleed followed minutes later. Ross ran to get a tissue and asked Conor to join us. Poor Conor got so upset saying he didn’t want us to be engaged. We got a few selfies, jumped in the car and set for Letterkenny where we met our nephews and enjoyed our afternoon at a pig farm. Talk about back to reality with a bang.

The special day will take place on July 3, 2026, with the ceremony beginning at 1:00pm with the celebrations continuing into the evening.

The wedding ceremony itself will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dunlewey, with the reception then taking place at An Chúirt Hotel in Gweedore.

Close to the beach, restaurants & pubs. Prices range from €100-€150 per night.

Again, close to beach, etc. A bus will leave from this location to & from the wedding.

Guests can also choose to stay at the wedding venue itself.
Other Options
Letterkenny is a nearby town with lots of hotels and b&bs (situated around 45 minutes away from wedding venue). A bus from Letterkenny will run to & from the wedding. There are also a limited number of rooms at the wedding venue however there is a wedding the following day so please plan ahead.
